Stick & Ball, the luxurious apparel and lifestyle brand inspired by polo and the equestrian way of life has opened a new store in downtown Mill Valley, CA. Stick & Ball is inspired by polo played in the countryside and appeals to both men and women who love a casually luxurious, town and country inspired lifestyle – but it’s not just for equestrians. Elizabeth Welborn Goodwin founded and launched the Stick & Ball brand and website in the fall of 2011 out of her passion for this way of life, and for the love of beautiful design and fashion.
A polo player herself, owner Elizabeth Goodwin Welborn’s focus for Stick & Ball is to create a brand that reflects an authentic heritage sense of style. Ponchos, knits, leather, espadrilles, cowboy boots – Latin, country and bluegrass music, Argentine asados, pig roasts, the Tango, and the fashion of the country polo fields where she has competed in Palermo, Argentina, Peru and Mexico are her inspiration.
“I am so excited to launch the new store and have been dreaming about it since the beginning of my brand,” said Elizabeth Goodwin Wellborn, owner of Stick & Ball. It’s been five years since I launched the online store and I felt like the timing was just right and a perfect location presented itself in downtown Mill Valley,” she says.
The original Stick & Ball Alpaca Poncho is the brand’s signature piece (and the first item she designed and has handmade sustainably by artisans in Peru). In addition, Stick & Ball features one-of-a-kind pieces – hand sewn alpaca blankets, leather belts, wallets, bags and weekenders, handmade boots by Texas-based Lucchese, gold and silver jewelry from artisans around the world, cotton T-shirts and scarves from Turkey for men, women and even the kids. In addition, there are beautiful pieces for the home that include alpaca throws and pillows, candles, artwork and books.
“I have always loved the way European women dress and approach style – they have classic core wardrobe pieces accented by a brilliant scarf or a large piece of jewelry,” added Goodwin Welborn. “Stick & Ball lets you capture that elegant/effortless/chic way of dressing with our unique pieces –many that are heirloom quality.”
