The lure of the Far East is growing with each passing day. To be immersed in the culture, history and vibrancy of a land juxtaposed by ancient traditions and a new cosmopolitan scene is every travelers dream. Starting on May 17th and lasting only until May 20th, the Hong Kong International Art Fair, taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), will be welcoming over 63,000 guests from all over the world to become immersed in the best of Asian and Western art. And as the third largest art auction (behind London and New York), this event is one to be permanently affixed to everyone’s calendar. This year, a total of 266 galleries representing 38 territories will showcase the best of contemporary art, many of which are from the world’s most influential galleries including Gagosian Gallery, Marian Goodman Gallery, Sean Kelly Gallery, Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, and many more.
Luckily for all of us on both coasts of the United States, there is a company that has created what is probably the most thrilling zipline adventure anywhere. Navitat Canopy Adventures has two facilities (Asheville, NC and Wrightwood, CA) where eco-friendly people, adrenaline junkies and the common man can come together and enjoy the great outdoors while zipping along between trees. Our editor in chief has the opportunity to visit one of their facilities and it was truly a memorable experience and one that everyone should try. Hats off to Navitat for creating a company that makes being environmentally conscious not only cool, but heart-poundingly fun!

Rémy Martin XO Excellence, the French house’s Extra Old fine champagne cognac and Thomas Lyte, the English luxury brand renowned for their leather goods and silver, have collaborated to create a limited edition gift set. The gift set, which is presented in a bespoke plum leather box, contains a silver hipflask enclosed in a leather cover embossed with the Rémy Martin XO centaur motif, alongside a 70cl decanter of Rémy Martin XO Excellence, naturally! It should be noted that hip flasks first appeared in the 18th century and today are often used as a gift for special occasions and seen as collector’s items (education is the key to being cultured, thus I teach you when I can dear readers). The collaboration of both brands is fortuitous, as they are both renowned for their craftsmanship and exceptional product quality. Rémy Martin XO Excellence is an excellent XO fine champagne cognac: it is blended from 350 eaux-de-vie sourced from the heart of Cognac (85% Grande Champagne, 15% Petite Champagne) that have been aged between 10-37 years, compared to the standard XO ageing of 6 years. Thomas Lyte, meanwhile, is an English luxury brand synonymous with great English design. Dedicated to the finest [...]

We absolutely love to highlight events that are doing fantastic things for people and the world around us. Therefore, we wanted to inform you that The Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program will hold its tenth and final annual Wine Aficionado Dinner on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at The Bazaar by José Andrés at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Enitled “Going out in Style: 10 Great Wines for 10 Great Years,” the dinner will present a four-course meal matching Chef Andrés’s revered Spanish cuisine with 10 world-class wines, including prized vintages from Colgin, Araujo, Vérité among others. As a sommelier, I have to say that this is a truly extraordinary experience that should not be missed. This year’s dinner will also recognize vintner Ann Colgin of Colgin Cellars for her contributions to charity through wine (what a wonderful woman). The evening will conclude with a live auction featuring a coveted seat on the Robb Report magazine annual “Car of the Year” panel (though they are a competing publication, we know them well and wish them the best); highly-collectible rare wines; a VIP Napa Valley experience with accommodations at Meadowood plus a private tasting at Colgin Cellars, and more.
Coming up on June 2nd, Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, a very rare and special occasion for the British nation and the Commonwealth, thus it will be marked with special services around the country. The historical significance of such a celebration cannot be understated. In fact, the only other British sovereign to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897. So what does that have to do with anything? Well, Clive Christian, creator of ‘No. 1’, the World’s Most Expensive Perfume, is going to unveil, No.1 Imperial Jubilee in celebration of the rare occasion. According to Victoria Christian, Brand Ambassador for Clive Christian Perfumes, “Only one other British Monarch in history, Queen Victoria, has reigned for 60 years or more. The perfumery that my father, Clive, revived was originally acknowledged by Queen Victoria in 1872 when she granted the image of her crown as a mark of British excellence.” The perfumery had been commissioned to create matching and complementing perfumes for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as an invisible, shared connection between the Royal couple and Clive Christian sought to restore these original values to the British Perfumery. “We are delighted to introduce the No. 1 [...]
